Iran, June 16 (Press TV) Amid reports of more planned pro-Moussavi rallies, the defeated Iranian candidate urges his supporters to keep calm and vigilant and to not fall into 'traps'.
In statement Mir-Hossein Moussavi, who suffered a crushing defeat in Friday's poll, said he would not attend rallies reportedly planned for Tuesday, Ghalamnews reported.
Moussavi supporters, who cry foul over the results of the hotly-contested election, reportedly plan to stage more civil rallies to protest what they call 'vote-rigging' in the poll.
The reports come as hundreds of thousands of protesters on Monday participated in a civil rally in Tehran and other cities to express their protest at the election result.
"Tomorrow at 5 p.m. (1230 GMT) at Vali-ye Asr Square," some of the protesters chanted at Monday's march, referring to a major road junction in Tehran.
At least seven people were killed and several others were injured in shootings that broke out in the aftermath of the Monday protest.
The rally, which went ahead despite a ban by the Interior Ministry, was the largest in a series of protests after President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was declared victor of Friday's vote.
While Moussavi has backed the right of his supporters to express their dissatisfaction with peaceful protests, he has stressed that they should remain calm and vigilant against provocations.
Moussavi, who addressed Monday march, said he was "ready to pay any price" to materialize ideals of the Iranian nation, Ghalamnews quoted him as saying.
Prominent Reformist figures including former parliament Speaker and fellow defeated candidate Mehdi Karroubi as well as former President Mohammad Khatami were also present at the rally.
Moussavi has filed a complaint with the Guardian Council, the body tasked with supervising electoral process, calling for the results to be annulled.
By law, the council is obliged to address any complaints about elections within a week-to-10-days period.
