Hillary Clinton, the secretary of state, has made a stand on an emotive issue for both Israelis and Palestinian Arabs - what does and does not get built in East Jerusalem.

Clinton told her audience on Wednesday in the West Bank, that a plan to destroy Arab homes and build Jewish ones in their place was "unhelpful" and liable to breach the 'road map' for peace.
